Jenny's Triangle Quilt
My friend Jenny saw my Instagram posts about my first triangle quilt. She casually/jokingly asked if I would make her a pink & navy triangle quilt for her soon-to-arrive baby girl. I sort of laughed and gave her a "I wish I had time for that..." response. But then I could not stop thinking about how cute that would be. Navy and Hot Pink?! It had to happen. And it happened. In one weekend. I just love it, don't you?

Triangle Quilt
I just HAD to make a triangle quilt! I kept pinning them and pinning them. With an auction for Henry's school coming up, I thought this could be a good way to get a triangle quilt out of my system. All the fabric I used came from my stash! I only had to buy the batting and back.
Planning
Cutting (300+ Triangles, if you're curious)
I used the Modern Ombre Black & White Triangle Quilt Tutorial from See Kate Sew. (**Note: make sure you download the updated pattern piece if you are going to try this yourself!**) Also see her notes on matching up the triangle points--very helpful. My points aren't perfect, but I got better and better!
The Finished Top
Binding - I love hand-binding my quilts!
All Done!
I used "Crosshatch In Grey" by Carolyn Friedlander for the back. It's extra wide (108" so I could use one continuous piece). I've used it before for quilts and love it as a simple neutral!
I ALMOST didn't donate this to the auction, because I ended up loving it so much. But I did, and I'm so happy that it has a new home. There will be more triangle quilts in my future....

Gus's Baby Quilt : Crib Size Deer and Geometric Quilt
I made Gus a quilt that matches his big brother's! Here's a pic from when I first finished it, back in August.
Soooo....I know, I should have planned the baby's quilt before making yet another item for the big boy. Well, that's life for the second-born, right? I had ample fabric left over from Henry's big boy quilt. Fabric that could not be used for just ANYthing...so I created a crib-sized quilt for Gus. This time instead of straight-up 4" squares, I alternated skinnier rows, because some of my scraps weren't quite wide enough.
Details:
Finished Size - 42" x 56"
Wide Rows: 5" squares
Skinny Rows: 3.5" wide scraps (varying lengths)
"Warm & Natural" Cotton Batting

Henry's Big Boy Quilt : Deer & Geometric Twin Quilt
Follow">http://www.bloglovin.com/blog/14767777/?claim=evgpzs2cbpu">Follow my blog with Bloglovin
As weird as it was to face facts that Henry was going to be in a big-boy bed, I knew this was a perfect opportunity to add a crafty touch to his new room. I fell in love with the deer, the triangles, just the colors in these two fabrics! I used the deer and triangles to find matching solids, and used coordinating dots as well.
I used a simple, straight-up square pattern. Each square measures 5". The final dimensions of the quilt are 62 x 80 (approx. twin size).
Now the catch: the child refuses to sleep with a blanket on his bed!! (Photo above is 100% staged.) I mean, not even folded up at the end, or tossed over the footboard! So guess who uses this now? Me! I used a high-loft batting, which made it a little trickier for machine quilting (oops, tucks and gathers here and there)...but oh-so warm and cozy. If he wants it back, he's going to have to fight me for it.

modern woodlands baby quilt
I was determined to use up every bit of my Modern Woodlands fabric (designed by Emily Ann). It is just too special to sit on the shelf. So I made up this crib-sized quilt for some future mystery baby. I'm not being sneaky -- I really have no idea who will end up with this cuteness.
As always, Henry found it difficult to stay off the thing I was photographing.
Since everything I make has to have that special Molly "touch" (read: mistake), I will show you this special accent on the binding. Can you believe I ran short with only this much left to go (I can)? I scoured my sewing room for one more small piece to match. Nope. Voila - accent piece!
Henry- tested and approved!

rainbow patchwork picnic blanket
Inspired by my friend Carina's awesome picnic blanket at a recent playdate, I resolved to make a crazy quilt of our own! Of course I only used scraps from my stash. And of course it had to be rainbow!
The main idea here is that it is colorful and crazy enough that it won't show too badly when it gets dirty...and I intend for it to get dirty on many picnics, playdates, beach trips, etc!
For the back, I used a sheet that Emily (I think!) had given me. Crazy enough for ya? I kept it really simple, with no batting or border.
As I was finishing up, I noticed a weird ripped patch on the back. I didn't even notice as I was laying it out! That's how awesome this will be for kids and parks - stains will blend in so much we won't even notice them. I even had trouble finding it again to put a little heart patch over it (no way was I going to start over at that point).
We've already used it a bunch on our deck and in the grass in our backyard.
We are obsessed with bubbles at the moment...
Looking forward to tons of fun times with our crazy blanket this summer...including our first trip to the beach this year, coming up this weekend, yahoo!

grandma's comfort quilt
Love for quilts and quilting goes back several generations in my family. The "Comfort Quilt" gets passed around the family to anyone who needs it. We are the proud holders of the comfort quilt right now!
According to family legend,
"The darker blocks were found embroidered, along with all the other patterns in Jeanne's house in 2005. Carrie finished the project that was probably started by Grandma Becker in 1930."

Carrie Druffel - my aunt
Jeanne Becker Druffel - my grandma
Maggie Moser Becker - my great-grandma
These pictures do not do the beautiful embroidery and quilting work justice. You are going to have to take my word for just how amazing this quilt is!
Plus, it is super warm and VERY comforting. I am doing my best to not spill anything on it or let Henry unleash any bodily fluids on it. Comfort Quilts must be used, right??

a baby quilt
Time for some sewing for baby! I went a little crazy a few weeks ago ordering fabrics. I couldn't resist this color palette... "Gone Fishin'" from the Storyboek collection for Birch Fabrics (plus a few others):
Turns out I bought enough fabric for about 2 king size quilts. So one smaller-than-crib-size blankey is a good start, right? Here are some in-progress shots, because I happen to love the look of the inside of a quilt!

Finished! Don't get too excited, this didn't happen all in one day. :)
Now the rocking chair is ready to go!
