marinus home
I was so excited to send these bags off this week, to be sold in Marinus Home--a new shop opening in Poulsbo, Washington! The shop features vintage and local goods, putting "a nautical spin on home design."

modern woodlands baby to-go bag
I might start calling these Baby To-Go Bags. I made this one for myself with Emily's Modern Woodlands fabrics .
A Zippered Bag!
Everything fits inside with some room to spare.
Snack Pouch and Burp Rags
Changing Pad - with a layer of clear vinyl for quick mess clean-up.
Now I'm ready to take this squirmy babe on lots of spring outings.

new stuff in my shop!
My shop is open again and I've got some new bags posted!
Some of these fabrics are from my "stash" and I used up what was left. So, when they're gone, they're gone!

phoebe bag
My good friend Morann's dear sweet Pheobe was born a few weeks ago, so I made her this little bag. If you're child #3 in the family, you need make sure your stuff is accounted for, so the fact that her name is right on the bag may prevent her brother or sister from swiping it. :)
The first letter is machine-stiched and the rest of the name is hand embroidered...
It's reversible!
I've been wanting to offer these in my shop as mini diaper bags - and finally got it listed! Thanks Morann and Phil for the opportunity to make a sample! Go see it in my shop, why don't you?

i made something cute
Even though I already have a million bags, I added another one to the collection. I can't help it if designers keep putting out new and amazing fabrics! So this one is reversible -- one side has a monogram and the other has a pocket, just the right size for a phone, a debit card...a binkie?
The doily is from my stash. Who knows where it came from now? Probably Value Village. Sometimes the best ideas happen on the fly. Totally didn't plan this one, or measure, or even mark where to place it on the bag. Scandalous! But I think it turned out pretty cute, if I may say so myself.

knitting season
Hurray, it's knitting/crocheting season! I love "watching" football and cozying up with a yarn project of some kind. I am going to practice my granny squares. I also want to knit some more baby stuff.
I've been thinking about a project-sized bag just for knitting. So I made one! I've been thinking about this applique-style for possible monogramming, etc. It was pretty easy, thanks to my trusty Heat Bond Lite. Where would I be without that stuff?

bridesmaid bags!
Usually when I send off an order, I realize that I will never see it again (sniff) and that's that.
However, sometimes people are especially kind and come back to my shop to leave me a note saying they're happy with their purchase. So sweet!
Miss Mary (or should I say MRS. Mary - she just got married!) took it one step further on the sweetness scale by sending me a picture of her cute bridesmaids with the bags she gave them as gifts! Aren't they looking good with their monogrammed market bags?
I'm sure it was a beautiful wedding, judging by her pretty bridesmaids and her perfect color matching! :)
Thanks, Mary!

Lunch Tote Craziness
I spent a good chunk of last weekend on the last post...and the other chunk on these! My lunch bags were born when my friend Helena asked me to make her a bag just big enough for her lunch...then I was making one for Teri. Then Sharon. (my gold-star customers!) Then I was making one for my sister...then they became one of my best selling items on Etsy! Good thing they're fun to make. So I made these on Sunday...and all five are sold already! Ok, so I decided to keep the brown one for myself. Yay!

Market Bag Business
I spent a good chunk of the weekend working on a large wholesale order! 12 market bags=institution of the assembly line process. So far everything is CUT. Sounds like a small accomplishment, but believe me it takes some time. I also learned a valuable lesson about keeping fingers a safe distance from the rotary cutter! (to accompany the lesson learned last weekend about keeping arms a safe distance from the iron.) Anyway, here's a shot of the fruits of my labor...

Speaking of MARKET BAGS, you should check out the sale in my Etsy store! (yes, that little tidbit is your reward for still reading this) This week only, I'm offering free shipping on all Market Bags and Lunch Bags. It's time to celebrate Earth Day by purchasing some reusables, baby! Can't you see yourself walking out of Safeway with this on your arm? Aww.
