happy easter!

Happy Easter to all!  It was a GORGEOUS day in Seattle, and such a fun Easter Sunday.  We went to church with the Truongs.  Henry was the best boy, thanks to Opal providing the entertainment.  Then good food and egg hunting at Emily & Tom's.
 Outdoor dining

 Cousin love!

Hmmm, are there some eggs around here?

Found it!

This kid had the most fun crawling around in the grass.  He threw a fit every time I tried to take him away!

opal's easter basket

Opal came over on Tuesday and we started a project.  We decided on an Easter basket!  The girl loves all things pink and purple.  So we hauled out my pink-and-purple scraps and started a little patchwork basket (I think she may have been slightly scared of the state of my scrap stash, and who could blame her?).

Stitched it up with a heavy duty canvas lining to make it stand up.

Now we're ready to hunt Easter eggs!

oh happy day

Sunshine.  Need I say more?
Met up with our baby and mommy friends at the park.  The grass was a big hit.

Oh, and Henry totally said his first word.  Ball!  What can I say?  He's a natural athlete.  I mean look at his shirt.

spring!

Happy Spring! Went out looking for signs of life today.

found these spring chickens at the mall.

Winter is such a drag that I'm almost happier on the first day of spring than on my birthday!  Happier than on Christmas morning!  Happier than Jamie during March Madness! (ha! as if that's possible.)

happy easter!

Happy Easter!  It is a gorgeous, Easter-y day in Seattle. Highlights from the day...
Brunch with friends & family

Mimosas for those lucky enough to be able to have them...

Emily and Opal looking adorable as always.

I made these little Easter "baskets" for party favors...they were supposed to be big enough to put a small terra-cotta pot with a plant inside.  But since this project started at 5pm last night and I bought the pots (crossing my fingers) this morning, it didn't quite work out because they were just a bit too small.  Oh well, they were plenty big enough for holding candy!

Happy Spring!

Springtime

It's springtime!

spring!

I was a little out of sorts this weekend. First of all, a bad cold. :( Second of all, my original plans were canceled, no homework and no orders. It is just weird for me to be so ... without purpose for a whole weekend! It was super wonderful though because I read and read and read and finished my current book. Thank goodness we are finally seeing some signs of spring around here. The front tree is budding and blue sky?!? Yay!

mid-winter break

Every year my staff debates: keep mid-winter break or get rid of it? I am happy to say it has survived through the years - no school this week! Yahooooo! Many of my co-workers are heading to warm and sunny places like Maui. Me? I'll be spending the break finishing my pro cert and working on my curriculum design project. Wild. And. Crazy. And. Depressing. Oh well...I ventured to the back yard (which has been visited about 2.5 times since September) to see if there were any signs of spring to make me feel better. Score!
I love the hens-and-chicks that grow in my rock wall...but can someone tell me if these are dying? Now it's time to start the big "sprinter" clean up. Too bad snow is in the forecast!

is it spring yet??

I am officially ready for spring. Aagggghhh. It was so cold today! But I have to admit it was a beautiful day. When the clouds finally subside this time of year, you realize the days actually ARE getting longer. Yay! I found this pic in one of my old picture folders...a memory from last summer! Someday it will be summer again...

new toy

I got a new toy! It's a fancy schmancy camera. I know almost nothing about it. But I'm excited to learn. Until "then" you'll probably see lots of mediocre photos. Here are some pics of my beloved house/yard with my new cam!
come on little leaves!

happy green things

look what I found in the yard today! This little yellow guy was just hanging out in the middle of the yard, kind of randomly. Also, the bulbs I planted are getting bigger.
not pictured: missing bulbs/holes where I had planted them. Presumably they became squirrel food. grrrrr.
Squirrels: 2
Molly: 1

another beautiful day

it was such a beautiful Seattle day today! more sunshine!! And I remembered that I have a yard. I have never had a yard before. I'm pretty sure they're a lot of work. hmm. A walk outside showed me that the bulbs I planted this fall are coming up... YAY! Bulbs are the best thing in the entire world. Just when you think you're about to die of winter depression, some daffodils pop up and make you want to live another day. Some outdoor projects...This is the bench my dad made me (remember this post?). A wrench bench! It needs a new paint job in a bad way. It would go perfectly in the front yard with our red door, but I'm afraid someone will steal it.

We have a fire pit! It needs serious work. The back is all busted out. And the bush growing on it may be a slight fire hazard. Jamie job!

The front yard needs raking. . . but other than that our front yard is pretty low-maintenance. Thank God, because this post is only the tip of the yard-maintenance iceberg. Should be a busy spring!

spring break, baby!

Well, yesterday had to be one of the rainiest Easters of all time. It just. rained. all. day. But it's ok, because this week I'm on Spring Break, baby! Guess how excited I am! I am looking forward to a week of intense crafting. Here are some spring-inspired Etsy finds...
