Triangle Patchwork Pillows

In order to practice my triangle piecing abilities (and to use up scraps in my stash), I created some pillow covers.  Easy, quick, and pretty adorable, if I may say so myself.

These pillow covers are now for sale in my Etsy shop.  They would be great for a splash of color in your living room or a child's bedroom/nursery!

scrap packs

Scrap packs are now available in my new supply shop: Sprout and Sparrow Supplies!  Am I crazy to now have 2 shops?  Yup!  But I love the idea of unloading my unused supplies and sending them to happy new homes.  These are perfect for small projects.  More to be added soon!

new stuff in my shop!

My shop is open again and I've got some new bags posted!

Some of these fabrics are from my "stash" and I used up what was left.  So, when they're gone, they're gone!

fantastic mr. fox

As I mentioned before Christmas, I took some time off for some much needed other-than-Etsy crafting.  My sissy Shannon is expecting her first baby in a few weeks, so I knew I needed to give the little guy some handmade love. Since the theme of the nursery is "Woodland Friends," I found this super cute Mr. Fox pattern.  It was so easy and fun!
When I gave it to her at our family shower, Auntie Chris asked if I could make one to give to her friend whose last name is Fox.  Of course!  This little guy is an Arctic Fox.
I highly recommend Dolls and Daydreams if you are looking for doll patterns.  Sarah's instructions were very easy to follow and included lots of pictures.  Plus everything in her shop is crazy adorable!  You can even get patterns to make clothes for the dolls.  Um, how cute are these?!

slowing down

Whew!  It was quite the holiday season here in my little studio!  Yesterday might have been my happiest day since November, because I sent off my last batch of orders.
It feels sooooo wonderful to get everything crossed off the to-do list. ....well, off the Etsy to-do list anyway.  My personal to-do list is quite long of course, including finishing Christmas shopping and wrapping.   And - obviously - some just-for-fun crafting is in order for my break time. YAY!

phoebe bag

My good friend Morann's dear sweet Pheobe was born a few weeks ago, so I made her this little bag.  If you're child #3 in the family, you need make sure your stuff is accounted for, so the fact that her name is right on the bag may prevent her brother or sister from swiping it. :)

The first letter is machine-stiched and the rest of the name is hand embroidered...

 It's reversible!

I've been wanting to offer these in my shop as mini diaper bags - and finally got it listed!  Thanks Morann and Phil for the opportunity to make a sample!  Go see it in my shop, why don't you?

she read my mind

One of my customers wanted a project bag just like the one pictured in the main photo of this listing, but with a "g" for her daughter's name.  She told me,

"This bag is adorable. I am getting it for my infant daughter to take all her stuff to daycare and back."
She read my mind!  I've been thinking that this bag is the perfect size for just a few diapers, a pack of wipes, a burp rag, and a bottle if you're a bottle-feeding mama.  In fact, I've been using my "m" bag for just this purpose.  Then you don't have to drag your giant diaper bag on quick trips!  I'm sensing a whole new target market here...

UPDATE: After writing the draft of this post I got yet another order from someone who wanted to use this as a mini diaper bag! She writes:

"I have been looking for a cute little tote to bring to the park or something for my little girl. I have a large diaper bag, but sometimes, that is just too much and you just want something a little smaller and this is perfect! Everything else I find just isn't cute enough :)"

Aw! I'm blushing!

adventures in vinyl

Sometimes I have to rely on my Etsy customers to give me the push to try something new.  For example, last week one of my fabulous customers asked if I could make the pockets of my jewelry cases from clear vinyl, so one could see the contents?  Well, why not?

Turns out it's super easy to sew with vinyl!  I really like how they turned out, how about you?

 Ready for delivery!

sunshine love

Let's talk about January. Ugh, January. The holidays are over, everything is gray (in Seattle) and each day is the same as the one before. I have been super lazy and unmotivated. Who wants to do anything after work when it looks like it's bedtime as soon as you get home? Yet, just when you think you can't take another minute, the clouds part and you realize the sun is out past 4:00. Like TODAY!

I went searching on Etsy for some sunshine-inspired cuteness, and I found CaitlinSainio. Crochet happiness! Love, love, love her cute hoop framed fiber art.
Looking forward to more sunshine in my life, starting tomorrow.

Bring It On, 2009

Ahhh, 2009, how I've waited for you. Not really, but it sounds postive, right? So I realized I needed a couple of new calendars for school and home. I went to Barnes and Noble, figuring they would have SOMETHING and it would probably be 50% off. Well, they did have calendars and they were 50% off. However, I simply could not decide between Golden Retriever Puppies, Heroes of Nascar, and Barns of Scotland. So I jumped on Etsy, and sure enough, I found the calendars that will take me through the year! This one will live in the kitchen:

I found it in daisyjanie's shop. I also discovered that she designs the most amazing fabrics.

This calendar, from Magnolia Moonlight, is going in my classroom:

I love how each day is a little speech bubble. It reminds me of the 20-some odd voices that never stop in my classroom! Aw, I miss the little guys. Happy New Year, everyone!
